The Metabolomics Society Precision Medicine Task Group in partnership with the Nordic Metabolomics Society, Metabolomics Association of North America (MANA) and other organizations and interest groups is organizing a virtual workshop The Metabolome meets the Exposome, to be held on Wednesday April 28, 2021 13:45 – 17:30 CET.

Human health and well-being are intricately linked to environmental quality. Environmental exposures can have lifelong consequences. External exposures, such as the exposures to environmental chemicals, affect the host's metabolism and immune system, which, in turn, mediate the risk of various diseases. Linking such exposures to adverse outcomes, via intermediate phenotypes such as the metabolome, is one of the central themes of exposome research.

Workshop aims

  • highlight key research themes and challenges at the interface of metabolomics and exposome
  • provide an overview of the major global initiatives in exposome research
  • explore opportunities for global cooperation in exposome research at the level of metabolomics
  • discuss the challenges associated with the intersection of exposome science, epidemiology, and precision medicine
